Wellbeing Lancashire Member Accreditation
Parliament has said health and care professionals working in certain occupations must be regulated and registered.
There are 10 health and care regulators for the following professionals:
- General Medical Council
Doctor and Psychiatrists
- Nursing and Midwifery Council
Nurse, Midwife, Nurse Associate
- General Pharmaceutical Council
Pharmacist, Pharmacist Technician
- Social Work England
- General Optical Council
Optician, Optometrist, Dispensing Optician
- General Dental Council
Dentist, Dental Nurse, Clinical Dental Technician, Hygienist, Dental Technician, Dental Therapist, Orthodontist
- Pharmaceutical Northern Ireland
- General Osteopathic Council
- General Chiropractic Council
- Health and Care Professionals Council
(Regulates health, psychological, and other allied health professionals)
Biomedical Scientist, Clinical Scientist, Arts Therapist, Chiropodist, Dietician, Occupational Therapist, Paramedic, Practitioner Psychologist, Prosthetist, SALT, Radiographer, Podiatrist, Physiotherapist, Orthotist, Orthoptist, Operating Dept Practitioner
Then there is Accredited Register Occupations, these are not regulated by law.
Accredited professionals are not obliged to go on an accredited register, however registering with a professional organisation highlights professionalism and credibility.
The 18 most common (but not exclusive) occupations are:
- Talking therapy
- Body Massage
- Massage Therapy
- Sports Massage
- Sports Rehab
- Play Therapy
- Nutritional Therapist
We will consider that providers will want to deliver from all areas of health and wellbeing and to businesses, individuals, and groups.
